Between 1981 and 1984 the Boston & Maine joined with the Central Vermont to provide expedited overnight piggyback service between Boston and St. Albans, VT (as a transfer point for Montreal). Marketed as the Rocket, the B&M's nighly train ran to Brattleboro, VT, where it was combined with CV's similar train out of Palmer, MA, for the rest of the trip north. As the sun set on a long June evening, GP18 1752 accelerated the northbound Rocket's string of trailers through Somerville, MA.
